Doyles on the Beach Restaurant
Description:

Doyles on the Beach Restaurant
Watsons Bay
Wednesday 5 August, 11:45am Seating
Individual bookings welcome
Once a quaint fishing village, Watsons Bay is now a lovely seaside enclave with loads of appeal, located at the tip of South Head peninsula in Sydney’s east. Steeped in history, Watsons Bay is rich in indigenous & colonial heritage.
The South Head heritage trail is a lovely walking track, taking you past Lady Bay Beach, which permits nude bathing, & on to the top of South Head. Here you’ll find the historic red & white striped Hornby Lighthouse.
Between May & November, you can easily spot whales off the coast during their annual migration.
The lighthouse was built in 1858 following the wrecking of the Dunbar at the foot of South Head. Designed by colonial architect Alexander Dawson, Hornby Lighthouse was the third lighthouse to be built in NSW. It is accessible via the South Head heritage trail an easy walk that leaves from Camp Cove at Watsons Bay, taking you past historic gun emplacements before reaching Hornby Lighthouse.
Doyles on the Beach is a Sydney institution & the Doyle family have been serving seafood from the site since 1885. The restaurant is set right on the edge of the sand at Watsons Bay, looking out over yachts bobbing in the water & the city skyline in the distance. Come along for some fresh air & their Winter lunch special!
