Cowra Weekend Away

Description:

Discover Cowra & discover a wealth of experiences - the great outdoors, vineyards & adventure.

Explore the tranquil Japanese Garden. Take a trip down memory lane & experience Cowra's fascinating history, from the days of steam trains to the largest Prisoner Of War breakout in modern military history. Food & wine buffs, we tour Cowra's boutique vineyards to sample the superb local food & wine available. Where better to enjoy fine wine & delicious food than right in the heart of where it is actually produced.

There are always plenty of things to see & do when visiting Cowra. Cowra Japanese Garden, Cowra Prisoner of War Camp, Cowra Visitor Information Centre, Australia's World Peace Bell, Japanese War Cemetery, Lachlan Valley Railway, Cowra Garrison Gates, Age of Fishes Museum, Canowindra Historical Society & Museum, Japanese & Australian War Cemeteries, finishing with a lap around Mount Panorama Bathurst.

Cowra is home to some of the most exceptional wine tasting experiences in NSW.  Warm days, cool nights & dry, late summers allow our vignerons to grow superior grape varieties. Combine this with their passion for perfection & you have the recipe for some of the most outstanding wines in Australia.

Cowra beef & lamb products are the envy of the country, as is the fresh seasonal asparagus that grows around the area. Add to this the recent introduction of specialty local products such as prunes, olives & olive oil, stone fruit & honey products, & your palate will thank you for stopping in our town.
