NSW Mounted Police Stables Tour

The Mounted Police is the oldest continuous Mounted Police in the world being formed in 1825 & celebrating our 190th anniversary in 2015.  NSW Mounted Police are a fully operational unit and operate 24 hours a day.

A Mounted Police officer or Volunteer in Policing will provide a tour of our historical museum, where you will watch a small video clip of our riders. Visitors will receive a walking tour of the Barracks which includes both stable blocks, observe the horses being exercised by our officer’s, meet the police horses, view our state of the art farrier’s room, vetting room & electronic walker, see our transportation vehicles & all of our saddlery.

Dependent upon the day & season & our operational commitments, you may also get to see various displays in the ménage.  They may range from Public Order Management training; troop drill; lessons in flatwork, jumping or bareback work.

Our horses are always happy for sweet treats & love receiving Carrots & Apples.  Tour Groups are more than welcome to bring treats to feed our horses.  Horses just want the food from your hand & cannot differentiate the difference between your fingers & a carrot – so we ask that you please place treats on a flat dinner plate (palm) hand ensuring all fingers are tightly tucked in together, including your thumbs.

Cockatoo Run

3801 Limited have been operating heritage rail services in the Greater Sydney region since 1985, & we cordially invite you to join us on our flagship tour – the famous Cockatoo Run, a vintage day return train departing Sydney Terminal for Robertson & Moss Vale through the beautiful Southern Highlands. Enjoy reliving the railway experience of years gone by in our beautifully restored Standard Class heritage carriages, or recline in the luxury of Lounge Class & enjoy complimentary scones & drinks – our buffet car serves light refreshments & souvenirs throughout the journey .

A mainstay of our operations since 1995, the Cockatoo Run is a scenic journey along the Illawarra Line, passing first through the rugged natural beauty of the Royal National Park before a spectacular shift to coastal scenery as the line runs parallel to the south coast from Stanwell Tops through to Wollongong & Unanderra. From here you can marvel as the vintage diesel locomotive tackle the steep grades up the Illawarra Escarpment, & enjoy the transition from splendid coastal views to waterfalls & magnificent rainforest as the train climbs up to Summit Tank, where we pause for you to admire the breathtaking views over Lake Illawarra to the Tasman Sea from the lookout.

We then continue through to historic Robertson, where you disembark to explore the town’s rustic charms & enjoy a leisurely lunch at Robertson Public House. After lunch we make the journey back to Central Station, traversing the same spectacular route as the sun sets in the evening, arriving back in Sydney prior to 7pm – an unforgettable day for all!

Cirque Du Soleil: Kurios

Cirque du Soleil returns to Australia this year with its most acclaimed touring show, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities, premiering under their Signature Big Top at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park.

Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience inside a fantasy world where everything is possible. In this realm set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality is quite relative indeed as our perception of it is utterly transformed.

KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities had its world premiere in Montréal April 2014 & since its debut, the critics have been raving across North America: “It is not to be missed on any account,” said Chris Jones in The Chicago Tribune. “KURIOS is the most enthralling, consistently over-the-top magical show Cirque du Soleil has sent our way in a long time,” raved Robert Hurwitt in The San Francisco Chronicle.
